Laurel
The Laurel District is well served by AC Transit Transbay Bus service and close proximity to Highway 580. Its long stretch of vibrant shopping on MacArthur between 35th Ave. and High St. includes Gyms, grocery stores, a hardware store, restaurants, bars, and much more. Vintage California Bungalows fill the neighborhood. Check out Degrees Plato for the neighborhood’s best beer selection and Sequoia Diner from some epic breakfasts.
At the top of the mountain, the neighborhood is bordered by several giant East Bay Regional Parks, including Sibley, Redwood and Huckleberry, that provide access to hundreds of miles of walking and mountain biking trails. There are many hillside lots in Montclair that can provide views from Mount Tam all the way to the south bay. There are also lovely wooded canyons, creeks and varied terrain with a wide variety of housing, including large contemporary homes, mid-century marvels, mediterranean stunners, and quaint cottages. Check out Yellow Door for some delicious quick breakfast, Daughter Thai for a unique take on Southeast Asian cuisine and a Great, Good Place for Books for all your literary need.
