I don’t know about you, but I’m noticing all the signs of spring lately as I’ve been out and about. The hills are green, the flowers are starting to bloom, the fragrance of jasmine is in the air, and the not so subtle return of seasonal allergies has hit. I am ready to get outside and do some exploring after feeling cooped up from our very wet and windy winter, and I’m looking forward to spring!

As I sat down to write this blog about Easter, little silly things like memories of the candy that was in my Easter basket as a child came to mind. I always looked forward to those simple jelly beans and the malted chocolate covered eggs. As I got older, I discovered the Reese’s Peanut Butter eggs and the Cadbury eggs… also both favorites. I can’t say that I’ve personally had or made an Easter basket in the last 20 years or so, but it occurred to me that the tastes I had as a child were simple, and not too elaborate, yet as I got older, I liked the more elaborate types of treats. Not to mention, how many flavored jelly bean options are there out there now?

It’s funny how my taste in Easter candy can translate to the places I’ve called “home” over the years. I suppose one could say that finding your dream home is much like finding your favorite Easter treat. My simple jelly bean tastes served me well when it came to my first apartment, where my biggest concern was making sure that I had my own bedroom and bathroom, to my first roommate situation where my “tastes” were a little more focused and it was imperative that we had a place to be social and I had my own bedroom and bathroom, to my first home purchase where I needed to have a garage, and didn’t want to have to worry about landscaping, to my first single family home where I wanted to have all the house, none of the yard, and be in a location that was conducive to my lifestyle.
